Post rock act, Storm Daughter have just released a new track off the upcoming ‘Archaic’ due out later in the year. The track, ‘Dark Ages’ explores the more “dreamier” aspects of the post rock genre. Dark Ages can be compared to a looking glass of this one man project’s next musical movements. Be sure to take a listen (link at the bottom of the page).
Despite not having a set in stone release date, Mr. Johnny King (the lone member of Storm Daughter) predicts a June release.
Here’s what he had to say about the upcoming record:
“I think it has a more mature composition style than most past material, in that most songs are less sporadic, more focused and longer than before, although there are a few exceptions. As an album, it’ll be a more challenging and varied experience than The Last Arboretum, and I’m going for a rawer sound (as showcased by Dark Ages). Parts of it are very ambitious, and parts of it came from wanting to do something powerful from within my comfort zone; I hope that there’s something for everyone though.”
“Dark Ages exhibits most of Archaic’s melodic sensibilities pretty well (although there’s some darker stuff in there), its structure is fairly typical in that it isn’t predictable, but it gives ideas enough space to develop properly, and the production is a reflection of things to come. However, the album is too diverse for too much to be deduced from one song.”
