Sometimes it seems so simple. A handful of writers run review blog/zine, bands send in albums they want reviewed, albums get reviewed and published on thesonicsensory.wordpress.com/ but for most who send there albums in without the effort of pulling teeth, there’s a chance that the music will be left behind, unpublished, forever on the “to-review” list. I’ll break it down for you:
1. Have review blog
2. Albums come to the site for review
3. We choose the bigger releases to earn more readers/viewers
4. Underground bands send in music, we try to get to all of them (there’s a lot, trust me)
5. ?????? — WE WANT YOU TO BE HERE
6. Underground bands see some publicity, advertising and some new fans.
Our humble little webzine sees hundreds of albums every month, and as you could imagine we’re not going to be able to get them all. It’s upsetting because you (assuming you’re a musician) put your blood, sweat and tears into your music (as well as some hard earned cash). We’re looking for guys and gals to bolster our reviewing force, interviewing underground bands, promoting new songs and bridging the gap between new fan and music. At this stage I’ll apologize handily, we’re not going to be able to review EVERYTHING, sometimes our opinion may not paint a positive light you are looking for. In these instances it’s better to live and let be rather than burn down your hopes and dreams of being the “next big thing”.
What The Sonic Sensory needs is a reviewing force that’s consistent, keen and has some knowledge of what goes into an album review. Having some knowledge of WordPress helps but isn’t completely necessary (we will run you through the process). You’ll be a part of a team, keen to help out you, themselves and more importantly the industry.
So what do you need to do?
If reviewing is a passion of yours, and you know (or would like to) something about the music you’d like to review simply send us an email:
with the subject line: “Join The Team” and link this article.
Tell us how you think you’d be a contribution to the team, what music you prefer or specialize in, whether you can meet deadlines and work both individually and as a part of a team.
We look forward to hearing from you!
