Refused – New Album!

Influential Post Hardcore band Refused have announced the release of their first album in 17 years. ‘Freedom’ will drop on June 30th via Epitaph records. If lead single ‘Elektra’ is any indication then the legendary sweedish crew have lost none of their attitude, ferocity and energy, (check out the video for ‘Elektra’ below).

Refused released The Shape of Punk to Come in 1998, which has since become widely recognised as just as important to the post hardcore movement as Black Sabbath is to metal. Bands such Glassjaw, Letlive, La Dispute, United Nations, The Used, Rise Against amongst others would not exist if not for Refused and that album. If for some unbeknown reason you have yet to discover Refused, then you have 2 months to become familiar. Refused are back, and they don’t do anything in halves.

“It’s not a reunion anymore,” said frontman Dennis Lyxzén in a statement. “This is one of the most radical things we’ve ever done, both musically and lyrically.”
